Privacy Policy for Gabriel Cooper Therapy
This Privacy Policy is required by state and federal law to protect consumers from receiving unwanted spam marketing texts and emails. I must provide it because I frequently use texting and email to communicate with clients and prospective clients who have initiated contact with me. However, I do not send marketing or commercial messages of any kind to any persons, clients or otherwise, at any time. In compliance with legal requirements, please note the following:
- I do not collect any personal information of any kind from visitors to my website (www.gabrielcoopertherapy.com), even those who reach out to me via the email link thereon, other than a return email address provided by the individual to enable my response
- No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties
- My website does not use cookies or tracking technology of any kind other than simply counting the number of visits to each page
- My website has no option for anyone to “log in” or establish an account, so I do not collect personal information for that purpose
- Separately from my website, I employ a third-party, encrypted, HIPPA compliant software platform (“TherapyNotes”) to collect and store the personal data of my clients along with their treatment plan and session notes. This data is considered Personal Health Information (PHI) and any sharing of such data is strictly regulated by federal law
- My policy and practices regarding sharing PHI with other health care providers is detailed on a form entitled "Your Rights re Protected Health Information" that each new client must review, approve, and sign
- TherapyNotes has its own Privacy Policy which can be seen at https://www.therapynotes.com/legal/privacypolicy/
- Through a secure portal on TherapyNotes, clients of Gabriel Cooper Therapy (and no other persons) voluntarily provide their PHI along with their contact and payment information that is required for me to maintain their health care file and operate my practice
- I use a client’s contact information to send texts and encrypted emails solely for the purpose of confirming and rescheduling appointments. I advise clients to avoid using these channels to communicate about their therapeutic or personal concerns
- Clients receive appointment reminders via text from TherapyNotes a day or two prior to each session. There may be some cost associated with this if a client’s cell service provider charges a fee to receive a text. You may opt out of receiving such reminders, bearing in mind that clients pay full fees for appointments missed without 48 hours advance notice
- I never sell client contact or payment information to any other entities for any purpose. I share such information only with other health care providers or certain authorities or individuals with consent of the client or in emergency situations as allowed or required by law
- I do not engage in any marketing or promotional activities and will never use client information for such purposes, apart from announcements about new services I may offer such as a psychotherapy group that may be of interest to my clients
- Anyone who receives an email or text from me may opt-out of receiving such communication by replying with such a request which will be immediately honored
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Please review it frequently.

Opt In and Opt Out
You are not required to agree to this Policy to receive services from the Practice. Should you choose to opt out, the Practice will be unable to communicate with you via text or email for purposes of scheduling, appointment reminders, etc. If you wish to opt out, do not sign this form and please alert the Practice by email. Otherwise, your signature below constitutes your choice to opt in to receive messages of this kind.
